Hi Folks!
Over the last few months i have been trying to teach myself 'C'. I think i am
tracking along quite nicely. I have come to a point where i think i need to ask
a few questions. I am using Borland's Turbo C++ 3.0 and at this stage not
concerned to much with portability, although i do give it some though every now
and then. I am basically just coding stuff to work on dos based machines, no
Windows or OS/2 stuff. I do have the occasional look at C++ stuff.
Ok, here are the questions...
1... I am writing a program for a mate that has some good ansi work, can
someone show me a few ways of doing the screens, apart from putting them into
an array, the screens are over 2k in size. I have looked at window, textattr
etc, am i looking in the right place? I have tried programs that embed the
screens, but i dont really have a need to do that, but i would like to have the
screens contained within the main EXE.
2... A clock routine, to display the clock and continually updating it, i guess
i will eventually work it out, but some pointers (no pun intended) would be
much appreciated.
3... When i compile a program, i end up with a lot of compiler crap at the end
of the exe, which shows things like the paths and names of the .c source code
files etc. How can i clean this up to make it more respectable?
4... Book suggestions! So that i may make a more informed choice. I already
have a book called 'A Book On C' by Al Kelley and Ira Pohl, ANSI C edition.
5... Am i using the right compiler? So far Turbo C++ v3.0 appears to be doing
the job, but....??
I guess there will be a few more questions along my path, so please bare with
me, and yes, i will read any FAQ's i can get my hands on!
Regards,
Andrew.
