Not the service packs for the OS (remember we're talking about NT/W2K 
and XP) itself.  They have never required prior ones to be present since 
they have always been cumulative.  You're thinking of the service packs 
for MS Office which "do" require prior service packs to be installed 
before they will even install.

And that's only for MS Office.  I just downloaded Service Pack 3 for 
Wordperfect Office 2002 and it included all prior service packs and 
fixes.
