Remember I don't live in the U.S. and we have strict gun control laws
here. The guns you find in Canada are usually in the hands of country
folk - farmers, hunters, etc. or those breaking the law if some way -
robbery, etc.  Weapons are not out there, here, like they are there...it
is one of the reasons I'm glad that I live in Canada.  The only gun I
ever saw in anyone's home was a rifle at my inlaw's - they live on a
farm in the middle of "nowhere". My husband (now dead) used to shoot the
rabbits that came into the garden or used it if wolves, etc. came on to
the property - things like that.
If you have a gun in the household then you have two choices as far as
children are concerned - make sure it is very safely locked up and/or
teach them how to respect and use them.
However, I will repeat myself here, I am strongly against guns myself
except in the country - or similar circumstances.
