Hi Carey,
This is Stephen. I just got home, and haven't had the opportunity to
set up an independent point yet, so this comes to you in my wife's name.

For some things, and on some machines, DR-DOS 6 just seems to work
better. I have been fighting OD7 for the past two days on this system.
GWE would just not start with OD7 installed. I cloned the old drive
(upgrading size with one I brought back with me), and it now is back to
100% functionality. It really is wierd. Does OD7 have a problem with a
machine with AMI Winbios? In my case, it certainly seems so.

I agree.

I haven't used LIST. VER seems to work fine on the laptop though.

It seems to be a case of either it works fine, or it doesn't work well.
GWE was a problem. Other DOS programs were fine (e.g. this point
program and Ripterm). My other desktop system had a few glitches, but
wound up working fine after a bit of configuration tweaking. Other than
the CTRL-ALT-DEL, it works perfectly on my Compaq laptop.
Anyway, it's good to be back home after a year away.
