Dear Sharon, I am so sorry to hear that your second letter to your
birthfather was refused. I want to encourage you to persue your
attempts to reunite.
I heard about an adoptee who had the agency contact her birthmother.
The birthmother refused all contact. It turns out she was just plain
scared and later admitted that she didn't have the guts to meet her
daughter. But, the daughter persisted! She found out her mother's name
and when she discovered that she had an unlisted number, she decided to
show up on her doorstep. Well, the mother was so glad that her
daughter made the effort to go through with her search. The reunion and
relationship continue today and this happened about two years ago.
Everything is going very well. So, don't give up. I am not necessarily
recommending that you go about reuniting with your birthfather this way,
but I hope you decide that it may not have been his doing at all. It
could have been an interfearing wife who was afraid of who knows what.
So, it is important for you to get answers, even if you don't live in
the area and need someone else to visit your father in person and find
out if this is REALLY his desire!
I wish you the best. I am sure it will work out, but definitely DON'T
GIVE UP!
