Can anyone throw any light on the "hidden registers" S91 and S92, in regard
to setting the modems line transmission volumes (dBs), I have a
Faxswitching, NetComm 288 Roadster(am 3451) and have trouble achieving
28800 connects,(mostly 21600 or 24600 or something close to that)
and I think it has something to do with line quality between my machine
and my local exchange. But I've heard I can adjust the modem to suit the
line transmission dB etc. I did a bounce test on TELSTRAS Faxstream
No. 03 96400999, and the return message indicates line dBs too soft!! But
blowed if I can get get my modem to up the volume. Also any other tricks
to get my machine to run quicker would be sincerely appreciated.

... If it's not on fire, it's a software problem.
