I have to echo his sentiments... I was never seriously "into" Fidonet
(certainly never enough to even consider setting up my own BBS), but I
also didn't like having to go through the login rigamarole whenever I
wanted to participate. So, I became a point. Instead of adding overhead,
it made Fidonet'ing a lot easier and more pleasant. I'd therefore rephrase
what he said to "...if you're even halfway serious about participating in
Fidonet, you should look into becoming a point." With a helpful sysop,
it's dirt simple. I pointed off Bob Juge's system and he had a prepackaged
"point-in-a-can" archive to help points get started. Downloading it was
the most time consuming part of the process - but that was back in the
days of 2400 kbps modems...
