| subject: | RE: Re-reexamining Torture ... |
~> The ~> -> procedure was more like the Spanish Inquisition version than the CIA ~> -> version. ~> I do not understand what the different 'versions' are One involves the intake of a lot of water, either swallowed or inhaled. The other involves the intake on no water at all. One involves the early stages of drowning. The other involves none of the stages of drowning. One involves severe pain, suffering, and potential death. The other involves none of those. For some reason Sauer considered those differences only "semantics," back before he ran away. ~> -> radio guy (who was doing it because he LOST a contest, and who expressed ~> a ~> -> desire to quit BEFORE any water was poured at all) ~> (I didn't know that :-) It was in the video, but I haven't seen it mentioned in any of the stories about the incident. Afterward, he also mentions that he was in part reacting because he had nearly drowned as a child, was unconscious, and had to have his breathing restarted. The CIA did psychological as well as medical screening of prisoners before interrogation, specifically to avoid such individual factors that might cause a person to react badly to the methods that were used on them. ~> was stupid enough to ~> -> have his mouth OPEN while that was happening. He wound up taking in ~> water ~> -> through both the nose and the mouth. ~> You would disapprove of that. Yes. ~> That is a lot different from the CIA ~> -> taking care to cover the nose and mouth so that NO water is ingested. ~> The moral purity of the CIA...is, I dare say, questionable. If you are still walking the earth in search of someone or something with moral purity, I have some bad news for you. The fact is that he has three-quarters of a gallon of water poured on him in a few seconds, including having it intentionally poured into his nose and his mouth. That is dramatically different from having cups of water poured over some plastic wrap with NONE of it going into his nose or mouth. ~> The ~> -> CIA also used people who were trained in how to do the procedure safely ~> and ~> -> effectively. The guy doing it laughed afterward, when asked a question ~> -> about the procedure, and admitted that he was a "rookie" who had never ~> done ~> -> this before! ~> There always has to be a first time If you were going to have a medical procedure done, would you want it done by someone who had gone through rigorous training on how to do it properly without any harm coming to you? Or would you go to a radio studio and have it done by someone who had never done it before, who didn't know how to do it safely, and who in the video openly expressed a desire to make you cry like a baby? --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5a* Origin: FidoTel & QWK on the Web! www.fidotel.com (1:124/311) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 11/331 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 226/0 249/303 SEEN-BY: 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 SEEN-BY: 396/45 633/260 267 285 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 SEEN-BY: 2320/105 5030/1256 @PATH: 124/311 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
