    I wasn't complaining about Mohammed having more than one wife.  Because
you raised the issue of contradictions, I was stating that a degree of
confusion existed over how many wives Mohammed actually had.

    Fair enough.  From the outset, God intended that a man have only one
mate, or one wife.  There was never any intentions to give any man more
than one wife.  Solomon had a concubine of wives because of his
disobedience regarding that fundamental rule.  We can say that many of his
wives were a result of trade bargaining, but he broke a fundamental rule as
did his father, King David with Bethsheba.  He had her father killed so he
would not impede the King's desire to marry his daughter.

    Being unmarried has several advantages.  The big one is cost.  Much more
effort and money is required to move a family as opposed to moving a single
person.  Because marriage has been banned, celibacy is automatic.
Fornication isn't an option.
