THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SOMEONE WHO "WAS AN ADDICT".  Once addic addicted, 
always addicted, both to the drug of abuse plus any other drug in that same 
chemical family be at risk of becoming addicted to very rapidly with any use 
at all. 
 So you are still an addict.  Still under the influence of the drug whether 
it is inside you or inside someone near you. 
 I had to go through that for a period of time when I stopped drinking and 
became attracted to male alcoholics!  The drug still called out and did for 
some time inside others. 
 I've also found out about food allergies and the very strong pull that foods 
I am allergic to have on me.  Those who know more about this just laugh when 
I ask questions, then keep teaching me how to cope. 
 But then, I have at least 100 hours of study into the brain chemistry 
connected with addiction.  I don't exhibit my confusion and my ignorance and 
my denial on one bulletin board after another as you do.
