Hello Roger -

To be honest I don't really know what '.NET' is. It appears to
be some combination of an IDE, 'Visual[pick your language]',
CVS, and a VM all rolled into one. I'm probably not
understanding the descriptions I've been reading of what it is
supposed to be.

I've been beaten down by the 'too old' that is prevalent the
past decade (or more) and no longer expect to recover time lost
learning every new 'trick' that flows down that pipe (work). I
don't fight to avoid the 'new', I just don't go looking for it
anymore. ;-)

If by 'whole world' you refer to the younger members, probably.
The young people I deal with lack the focus to learn C or (god
forbid) ASM.

I jumped at AWK as soon as I discovered that it existed and
found that few others had made the 'jump'. Apparently
installing AWK on Microsoft servers is not a common practice
hence my use of Perl. Perl is a mongrel language IMO that just
annoys me to even see the code much less work with it.
Necessity drives me ever onward. :-\

Never really liked SED either though. Reminds me of EDLIN too
much.

RS> Of course everyone reading this knows that C can handle ANY

RS> 1) Pun optional :-)

Young admins seem to either think compiled C binaries are an
attempt to takeover their servers or that they have a 'sucker'
they can over-charge for the privilege of using C binaries on the
server. Either way it puts me back to Perl or ASP.
