AFAIK the 'opendos project' is now the 'freedos project'. I
have found very small groups who persist at attempts to revive
OpenDOS but the bulk of development for the past decade or more
has been with FreeDOS. 

On FIDO I have only found 'users' of FreeDOS with little/no
programming experience whatsoever. 

Time has 'thinned the herd'. ;-)
