Netcomm Roadster with inbuilt fax switch. yep just what I got > Does anyone have any genuine opinions based on experience with this > model? Ok here's a genuine opinion, I'm speaking from current experience. I bought my Netcomm Roadster about a month ago... Never worked properly.... I tried heaps of different INIT strings... It won't connect to other 28.8k ¨modems... When I ring out, it either totally stuffs up, or connects at a ¨really bad speed... about 21.6k most oif the time... sometimes 19.2k... It only connected to one other type of modem... A Netcomm Inmodem... Well ¨that was the only type of modem that would connectt perfect at 28.8k.... I thought I must have a noisy phone line.... I tried my friends 28.8k ¨(differnet brand) worked perfect.... At slower speeds my Roadster worked perfect... connected at 14.4k and 9600 ¨perfect.... Some 2400 modems only connected at 300 bps though. ¨ After about a week, the modem stoped answering calls... therefore making it ¨totally useless for my BBS... I took it back to the dealer, they swaped it... So I got a new one... It did the same thing, wouldn't connect at 28.8k... and a little over a week ¨later it didn't answer the calls... Therefore totally stuffed again... This is as far as I've gotten so far... I've spent about a month trying to ¨get support from the Netcomm BBS... never got help that worked... Now I'm at the stage where I'm going to send my modem in to Netcomm to see ¨what they can do with it... I'm hoping they'll find a major problem... So ¨maybe they'll give me a refund.. Its too much hassle! I spent the extra money to get a netcomm, I could have gotten a cheaper ¨no-name modem that would have probably worked... I'll be sending my modem to Netcomm within the next few days, so I'll be able ¨to tell you more soon.... Before this new modem, I was happy with Netcomm, I had a 14.4k for a few ¨years, never had a problem.... I'm not a satisfied customer!
