Hi Trifle, > -> I'm a bit confused as to how DOSEMU speaks to the Linux file system > DOSEMU uses MFS (mach file system). It maps dos drive letters to > whatever linux subdirectory you want. Yep.. I've never set it up here.. I'd much rather use linux native software. Old habits I guess.. in the old days, DOSEMU under linux was not especially secure. > -> It would be nice to have a Windows version of DOSEMU. > I got PCBoard running on DOSEMU with inbound telnet support, but it hits > the CPU hard when you transfer files, and the telnet/pty support is > inadquate for protocols like zmodem; they don't work in a DOSEMU setup. > Using PCBoard on Windows XP with net2bbs and netfoss, file transfers > only put a light load on the CPU, and zmodem works. So unless you're a > hard core hacker trying to improve the DOSEMU code itself, I would not > use it for a BBS. Why not try a linux bbs? There are several of them out there now.. MBSE comes to mind as freeware (with source ).. BBBS (no source, shareware as I mentioned in an earlier message), and I'm sure there are others :) I've never run PCBoard for my own system, but did have to run it on a spare system when U.S.Robotics was working on the FileGate with me back in about 1990-1994 or whenever.. I never did like it's interface. Matter of taste I guess. I know plenty of people who hate BBBS as well Take care, Janis --- BBBS/Li6 v4.10 Dada-1* Origin: Prism bbs (1:261/38) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 313 550 620 848 @PATH: 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
