Concerning _Antenna_, Randy Schumann said to Troy H. Cheek in SCANRADIO:
RS> i have used a regular cb antenna for a scanner antenna...i have a cb
RS> in my car, bought a splitter so i can use the scanner or cb without
RS> disconnecting any coax...
I'd considered this, but was afraid to try it. I figured the first time I
transmitted on the CB, my scanner would have a stroke. Or, if I was using my
friend's CB, my scanner would explode.
I assume that you turn off the scanner when using the CB, and turn off the CB
(or at least, don't transmit) while listening to the scanner.
Did adding the splitter decrease scanner sensitivity? Did adding the
splitter change your SWR?
I just spend two days adjusting my SWR, and don't really want to do anything
to change it...
RS> it seems to work well with my scanner (pro- 51)....i'm not sure as to
RS> what freqs it may be bringing it much clearer, but overall i seem to
RS> be receiving a bit more than i do with the provided rubber ducky.
Some people will say that anything is better than the provided rubber ducky,
but I've found that those things are really underrated.
