There is no way that a school or teacher can keep a classroom or lab up to 
date technologically, it is just too expensive.
 
Here are the uses I see for computers in the classroom.
1. As a tool for students and the teacher--students must see teachers using 
the computer as a tool, especially if they come from a low income area and do 
not have access to computers at home.
a. Record keeping (teachers gradebook, lesson plans, etc.. Students can learn 
to keep statistics in a database or spreadsheet - maybe even average their 
own scores.
2. As a motivator - a student that uses a computer for a project generally 
puts more effort into it - especially when he sees how short the report is 
when printed. Using computers gives students a sense of power also, this 
prompts growth in self-confidence
