BB> Ok, so how is this 56K gonna work? Is it for just to call ISP's? Or
BB> dial up Frank's BBS and connect at 56k if we both have the
The word has it from USR, when I called to talk to a tech about my X2 modem,
is that both parties must have X2, and the receiving end must have a digital
link to the phone network, in other words a ISDN connection, with the X2
modem connected to the pots port on it...
If you don't know, Its not a big deal, as the modem will check to see if its
a digial link on the other end or not, and if not, just act as a standard
v.34 modem...
ONE QUICK NOTE:
I've already seen the new firmware on BBS's, and on the internet...
ITS NOT GOING TO DO YOU ANY GOOD TO GET IT!!!!!!!!
You MUST call a special 888 phone number with the modem to get the X2 stuff
turned on in the modem...
To do this, You MUST HAVE SIGNED up with USR for the X2 upgrade...
You will be given a code to use when calling the BBS at the 888 phone
umber.
The BBS will ask for that code, so you'll be able to turn on your X2
Features.
