JH> ALRIGHT!!! I am tired of hearing all of these rumors about why King
JH> was Bachman. I wrote him and this is what his sevretary told me!!!
JH>
JH> She said that he did it because he wanted to try a different kind of
JH> writing. Not so much horror as just adventure/fiction. Take the
JH> Running man and the long walk for instance...both games (or a
JH> gameshow) also he wrote under Richard Bachman because one of his books
JH> Rage (formerly Getting it On) was published under Stepehn King.
JH> Finally he named it rage and under the name of Richard Bachman it got
JH> published. If you read The Dark Half you will learn a little about
JH> what he was going through. That book is based on his dealings with
JH> Richard Bachman. Anyway, he accidentally put the copyright of Thinner
JH> under his own name. Some guy noticed it (because how many of us,
JH> besides me, looks at the copyrights???) and threatend to tell. King
JH> took over, told the public, and killed Bachman off of Lung Cancer in
JH> 1985. Of course he wrote a book under the name of Bachman (the
JH> Regulators which I am reading) and said it was "...found in the attic
JH> by Bachman's widow when she was about to move." This will surely put
JH> it one the bestseller list (if it isn't already). THAT is why King was
JH> Bachman. And if you notice the Bachman books (with the exception of
JH> the new one) were all published in the early 1980's ('82 and '83
JH> mostly). At that time King was a very successful writer...
JH>
JH> If anyone has any questions just reply to this message!!!
Yes, that is true. However, read the intro of the old version of The Bachman
Books. There is an intro in there called "Why I was Bachman". It says what
you say and also that his publisher wouldn't allow so many King books, so
thats another reason he wrote under Bachman.
