CM> Why if you believe these things, then why also do you believe

What in the world do *you* mean by a level playing field? To me, a
level playing field is a state where each person is allowed to pursue
their own talents with no reference to race, religion, or nationality.
A person will succeed or fail on the basis of their individual talents,
interests, skills, etc. They are free to prove their own worth. I have
finally realized that this is not what you mean by a level playing
field. The fact that you spoke of the Soviet dictatorships and Hitler
as creating a level playing field proves this to me.

I did not say this. You have misinterpreted me. I said nothing at all
about passing new laws.
> make us all equal under the law, we already have laws that make

No such laws exist! People are legally refused jobs on a regular basis.
People are also illegally refused jobs on a regular basis.

I have not been advocating this. I heard you saying that you wanted to
do away with current laws that guarantee equality. Apparently you were
not saying what I heard you saying. Apparently I am not saying what you
are hearing me saying. It's time for definitions. I will give my
definitions in a different post.

I told you before: every freedom gained means the loss of another
freedom. No-one can be totally free. We have to choose our freedoms. As
a writer, freedom of speech is just about the most important freedom in
the world to me. I am willing to put up with all sorts of other
freedoms being lost in order to keep freedom of speech. But if I have
freedom of speech, other freedoms *are* lost. Freedom of speech means I
do not have freedom from your or someone else committing libel against
me. Freedom of speech means I have limits on how much I can protect my
child from pornography. Knowing all this, I *still* support freedom of
speech; but I also know the cost I pay for that freedom. I know what I
lose by supporting it. I support freedom of the press; which is not the
same as freedom of speech. But freedom of the press means that the
National Inquirer and other yellow papers exist. I cannot be free from
the misuse of press freedom and have freedom of the press. I still
support freedom of the press, for I think it is the more important
freedom; but I am also going to lose something by supporting it. I
support freedom of religion, even though supporting it means I am not
free from the religious crusaders appearing at my door to try to convert
me. Freedom is *never* an absolute term. We are always choosing one
freedom over another.
> This is America, not the USSR where the goverment uses brute force
> backed up by the military with isolation camps and mind contol
> sorry !
Well ... I think that the US government has been known to have political
prisoners and to engage in mind control. But it does not do it to the
extent that the former soviet union did. The soviet union, by the way,
was *not* a socialist state, despite its name. It was a communist
state. They are not the same.
