Jerry, I understand that if the tool is about 80% the size of the glass
you shouldn't have any problems.
Both tools I have used were sub-diameter and they worked fine. If you make
a 14" tool you will be
fine, I would not make it too heavy(you can always add wieghts - but can't
take off a solid pour)
Look on Mel's website, I think he has some information on this
subject.
