Thanks to all of you who responded. It is easy to be paranoid about this
stuff. I plan on polishing another 2-3 hours and doing another quick check,
but since t sounds like I am not screwing anything up, I feel better --
other than my aching hands!

I see very little turned edge, and the diffraction effect at the edge makes
it difficult to tell the direction.  Most of my mirrors come off the
machine at first looking like yours, and I think you have an oblate
spheroid with a turned UP edge.

Do you get a diffraction edge when you use Foucault? The hairline ring of
light even on the dark half?  That is the first indication that the edge is
going to be alright.

Believe me it will change before you are polished.  Proceed.

It looks to me like I currently have an oblate spheroid and a turned edge.
I am assuming that as I continue polishing this should even out to a
sphere?
