I was reading USA Today a couple of days back and a cartoon in the first
(News) section said it all: what's the fuss about Tyson's bite? If you look
at it from the point of view of the cartoonist, he makes a damn good point
about the fact that there were people that were calling for both boxers to do
something barbaric and then for them to be taken aback by Tyson's actions is
a bit hypocritical. I think it's really stupid to jump on Tyson's case when
you realize what would have happened if none of this had happened (Hell,
anyone that watched the Olympics got to see how much this *sport* has taken
out of Ali). Two people are being asked to enter a ring, beat the living crap
out of each other and in many cases, inflict long-term physical damage to the
brain and other areas of the body. I'm not making excuses for Tyson, however,
what happens in the ring is just as *barbaric* as his Holyfield sandwich. Oh,
FYI, Holyfield has also bitten an opponent (Probably one of the reasons why
he wasn't as venomous with his remarks as some of the people on this echo
have been).
