-> The accronym MICN came up in someone else's post a while back, and
-> a lot of us (myself included) were wondering what it meant. I ran into
he
-> term again in a book about trauma centers and their definition of MICN was
-> Mobile Intensive Care Nurse. Apparently it's an additional set of
protocals
-> and procedures an RN can learn in order to certify as a nurse on a Mobile
-> Intensive Care rig.
MICU - Mobile Intensive Care Unit
MICP - Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic
MICN - Mobile Intensive Care Nurse
The above are all common terms in Los Angeles, CA. MICNs are RNs that
eceive
additional training to allow them to communicate with MICPs via radio for
medical control.
They may soon be extinct as Los Angeles County is moving quickly to use of
SFTPs, standing field treatment protocols.
