The 49ers traded Dave Neuman to the Jets for saying:
DN> We'll discuss my "convenient omissions of the facts"
Why not discuss them now.....
DN> Btw, I now hear that not only is the Radja trade nixed, but that he's
DN> thinking of playing over in Greece.. so the Cs get nothing for him :(
Who cares. Radja, as I have pointed out SEVERAL times, is a piece in the
puzzle. At best, he represented 7 wins and if they find a center that's worth
a damn, Walker will give them that much and more (Of course, with the Nets
doing what they did, I feel even more confident that the Celtics will finish
higher than them this year). They had a pretty good draft and they've
positioned themselves for free agents this year and next year.
You remind me of the people that gave David Robison ALL the credit for the
improvement in their first year (Never mind that 12 players on that team
weren't there the year before) and their drop this year (Never mind that they
had a slew of injuries that came close to matching what happened in Boston).
You don't see the full picture and the fact is, the Celtics are in a very
good position to rebound AND do it in a major way. I think it's so funny that
you talk about 24 wins as if it was such an impossible task and yet, a team
that was very similar in luck (players lost to injuries), inexperience and a
bad head coach, the Dallas Mavericks, won 23 more games the year after they
drafted Jason Kidd and they got Roy Tarpley back from drug suspension. The
Mavericks that won 13 games had bad attitudes and they often failed to show
up for the 4th quarter. That same bunch was nearly as bad when Kidd was out
of the lineup (Only Tarpley and Popeye Jones played like they really cared)
and they eventually started feuding amongst each other. The Celtics haven't
shown any of that and they were trying, even in the 4th quarter when they
were behind. That's the kind of thing that Pitino can work off of and more
importantly, makes it easier for him to make the kind of changes that he
wants to make. Hell, look at the Lakers (and I mean pre-Shaq) and see what
they've done and there's no one (not even me) that would have predicted that
they would have done so well with talent that people thought was the same as
the Celtics (and I'm talking before last season). They were a team that was
headed no where (33 wins with a coach that wasn't very good) and then they
got an experienced coach in Del Harris (and I'll admit that I wasn't too
thrilled about him as the coach) and turned the same team from 33 wins to 48
in one season. The Celtics, WHEN HEALTHY, were a 30-33 win team last year so
it's not a stretch to believe that they can achieve 40 wins.
