Hi
One last thing. When I hand drill, I expect to have
slight errors. For this reason, I clamp the two pieces together and drill
them both at the same time. If I have a number of pieces that look the
same, I mark them to show order of assembly.
If I intend to tap one side but not the other, I first
drill the pilot hole through both pieces. I then drill the clearance (
larger drill ) hole about 3/4 through the piece that is to have the
clearance. I then use the tap drill ( slightly smaller ) to finish the tap
hole. I separate the pieces and then finish the clearance hole. I tap the
other piece, and assemble what I have before drilling the next hole.
This method is time consuming but I'm not being paid by
the hour. It helps to have several drills loaded with the right bit for the
right time.
Just a though. I'm not sure if this well help in this
case.
Dwight
