| subject: | Re: ATM ratios of strokes to revolutions on a polishing/grinding |
From: Guy Brandenburg To: Jerry CC: ATM List Reply-To: Guy Brandenburg There were lots of speedy responses to my query on this, and I would like to thank all of those who contributed. It's interesting that some people say that having severe cardioids, caused by the 3:1 ratio, is going to cause severe problems with zones and such. (Actually, it looks to me that there would be not just zones but severe astigmatism in that the surface would be nothing at all like a surface of revolution!) Others say that the slippage that is bound to occur with the belts (not gears) will prevent any repetitiveness and will prevent zones or astigmatism from occurring.
