I never could understand that particular insistence...

A tv "science show" some time back detailed various maladies
involving the brain.  One of them was of particular interest,  as the poor
guy who had it, the result of an injury I think,  saw *everything* in what
I can best describe as a "mystical" point of view.  Sorta like
dropping acid without having to drop acid,  I guess.

My take on this is that there are an awful lot of people out there whose
everyday brain functioning includes a milder form of this condition,  where
they "gotta BELIEVE",  so they pick something that they're
comfortable with, something that fits with their upbringing,  their
culture,  whatever,  and they stick with it.

That doesn't work for me,  though.
