There's the technical reason, and then there's the real reason...one's
fellow ATM's will surely line up to star test on first-light evening,  with
their slings and arrows carefully sharpened!  Mirror makers of integrity
will resist the temptation to bias the figure for this
not-quite-equilibrated event.
