| subject: | RE: ATM Another Flat Black Paint |
From: "Scott Berfield" To: Reply-To: "Scott Berfield" One problem with velvet is that while it is VERY dark straight on, it can be reflective at grazing angles. We used to use velour instead in the theatre because it has a nap that allows it to be oriented to catch more light. I tried a loose wooly material one time (not sure what it was called) that worked really well at shallow angles - it has lots and lots of random length loops of thread. It makes an awesome light trap. I have used black velvet for the area opposite my focuser and flocking paper for the rest of the scope on my 8" and it is pretty black. Another nice black paint is Roscoe Ultra black stage paint. You used to be able to get it in concentrated form which was nice and black. -sb --- BBBS/NT v4.00 MP* Origin: Email Gate (1:379/1.100) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/1 633/267 |
