carriage because it's so heavy and smooth. With the right dry lubricant between
the pieces, and a reasonable lack of dust particles, it will be the
smoothest version of a tester I can make. Compared to my wood-and-metal
contraption now, it will be far superior.

Hi Kevin
Actually a piece of window glass works better and
is easier to get to the right size. I've used small teflon pins ( used to
be electronic standoffs ). Even dellron ( sp? ) works well on glass.
