Hello Guiseppe,
>>>
While I'm more acquainted with epoxy resin as an amateur boatbuilder, I
know that our telescope (a 1.5 meter aperture Cassegrain made by
Brashear-Contraves) has indeed epoxied components. Namely, the primary
mirror (a full thickness f/1.5 paraboloid) stays in an isostatic cell, and
many supports are actually epoxied to the mirror blank.
<<<
Hm, I am not sure which feedback you await, but I never heard of a mirror
epoxied to its support points! RTVed yes. (Anyway I do not like this idea,
but as I read some are happy with it, it might be a good one finally :-)
Do you know good sources of epoxy in Europe, BTW?
Wow. 1.5 meter, that is a big one! Not the kind you knock down in your
minivan to rebuild it back at the star party ;-)
Clear skies,
Hugues Laroche
