From: Ad http://www.shephard.co.uk/UVOnline/ShowReportItem.aspx?ID=079c7365-6e74-422a-a1 db-3e1ca041fc94 "June, 18 2007 According to BAE Systems officials the UK’s œ124 million Taranis UAV technology demonstrator programme has reached its first major milestone with the design of its autonomous systems finalised. Ground testing of the UAV is scheduled for 2009 and the first flight trails are expected in 2010. According to project director Chris Allam, ‘the brains of Taranis are now designed and coherent. What we have designed is a system that can autonomously control the aircraft to taxi, take off, and navigate its way to a search area while reacting to any threats or other events.’ In developing the autonomous systems BAE has been working closely with both the Ministry of Defence and QinetiQ. The latter has been doing a variety of work on UCAV systems including its recent trials of coordination of manned and unmanned aircraft for attack missions. The consortium reached the milestone ahead of schedule and all the pieces of the autonomous architecture are now available to code and test. BAE Systems will begin cutting metal on Taranis at the end of the year." So Neuron is going ahead well as is Taranis. I hope you F22 lovers are not looking to buy too many of them. I am looking forward to Red Flag 2010. I am curious wrt to what Sukhoi is working on.
