"There's no hope of getting a better lot in life for 99% of the people."

It is this belief that keeps most of these people from achieving success
beyond their wildest dreams.  As Yoda told Luke Skywalker in The Empire
Strikes Back:  Luke said "Its Impossible" and Yoda said: 
"And that is why you fail".

Nobody is going to delay gratification and make sacrifices for years, and
take risks if they convince themselves first they can't succeed.  Its the
number one self-fulfilling prophecy.

You have to believe it to receive it.  The single biggest difference
between the personality and culture of the poor and the culture of the
successful entrepreneur class who built family wealth from nothing is the
pervasive negativism and negative cultural beliefs that form what some used
to accurately call the "Culture of Poverty".  This culture of
poverty and pervasive negativism is passed on from mother to children and
father to children, generation after generation.  They falsely believe that
life is shit, they can never amount to anything, and that they do not
control their own destiny in life.
