It's about Alan Johnson, a kidnapped BBC hack in Gaza...

A) The "enemy" aka Hamas are doing what the US/UK would have
wished in terms of bringing in order & the "one gun" e.g.

"Mumtaz Dughmush, the head of the Gaza clan that has been holding BBC
correspondent Alan Johnston for the past 100 days, is refusing to release
the journalist for fear that Hamas will kill him and most of his clan
members.

Dughmush, who is known as Abu Muhammad, is negotiating Johnston's release
with Hamas leaders in return for assurances that he and his relatives will
not be killed, sources close to Hamas told The Jerusalem Post Thursday.

B) What was known for a while now but has not been widely circulated coz de
man woz de US's main man in Gaza....

""This man is a big thug," a source said. "He is
claiming to head a group calling itself the Army of Islam. In fact, this is
just a group of murderers and thugs who want money and jobs.""

"A Hamas official in the Gaza Strip said Mumtaz Dughmush was very
close to Fatah operative Muhammad Dahlan.

"In the past he was close to Hamas, but he later started working with
Dahlan," the official said. "This man will do anything for money.
He was asking for $2 million in exchange for the British journalist. But
now he knows he's not going to get anything out of Hamas." "


Some people were fairly sure that Dahlan....could have got him released but
was possibly in for a cut of the ransom money....

Reminds me a lot of the US releasing Lucky Luciano etc to help em take over
Italy/Sicily....& then for decades after they had to cope with the
"blow back".

Dahlan woz the US's man (& got weapons, cash etc) coz eee could
"get things done" however he is/was basically the head gangster
in the strip which has the rather interesting perceptual side effect of
putting the US on the side of the gangsters & criminals in the mind of
the locals.

Not a place I feel the US public would like to be.
