Tanks for all the advice about a 8" first mirror thickness! I will try to get
20 mm plate glass locally and cut out the blank.
Normal plate glass could be full of stress and need annealing before grinding
the mirror. From the archives I understand that this can be done by heating
it to 510 C, leaving it at that temperature for 24 hours and then letting
it cool
off during another 24 hours. Is this correct?
There are some artist doing ceramics on the island so I hope I can find a
kiln for this work.
