Counter-insurgency.

It's what used to be called colonial policing but
obviously...nowadays.....we don't do "colonial".....

Using an army as the prime force in counter insurgency is usually
problematic for a whole host of reasons including using "war
fighters" against a pissed off bunch of local civilians. Usually the
vastly better route is to use a "police force" using local laws
etc rather than guys with tanks.

Boys in blue are often better at seeming more part of the community than
boys in green.

Yup. and more environmentally friendly.....I wonder what the "carbon
footprint" of the current Iraq war has been given how mil vehicles
have never have had reputation for sipping fuel.
