The duly elected Palestinian gov aka Hamas...

make a success of running Gaza?

e.g. imagine if they actually bring security, control crime, get the BBC
hack released etc.etc.

i.e. at heart their power comes (like all pol orgs) "from the
people" & people care about people things e.g. bread, water, their
kids, crime etc.etc.

I think Hamas might pull a blinder on this. i.e. if at the end of the year
they can point to a "succesful period within the limits of the western
colonizers" i.e. sucess on those things they can control e.g. crime,
factionalism etc.etc....& meanwhile the West Bank contiues to get more
Israeli settlements, Abbas is "given" money but no real power
& thus all that happens is PA officials get new Mercedes, marble
bathrooms etc.

Then......


They start to have a "dialog aimed at national reconciliation"
with the eventual goal of a new election for both President &
Parliament....


Who will have more to show the voters?

The 2 known knowns are that

A) Hamas are disciplined & canny political operators B) All Fateh's
disciplined & canny political operators are in Israeli jails.

Will Israel try & balance the fight via some sort of prisoner swap for
their soldier? Will Hamas even want the Israelis to release Barghouti &
other canny fateh types in return?
