Call up the Adler Planetarium on the lakefront in Chicago. There is an
on-going mirror-making group associated with the Adler, though it is not
physically located at the Adler any more. I visited the Adler a couple of
weeks ago as part of a field trip with my JHS math team that was competing
(MathCounts)at the national level. It happened to be Astronomy Day, so,
naturally, it was pouring rain. One of the volunteers for Astronomy Day
there told me she had just finished her first 10" mirror in that
workshop. I don't recall the name of the volunteer, but the astronomer
emeritus' name is Jim Seevers, and his workshop is now in Lansing,
Illinois, wherever that is. Call him at 219-902-1817 and let us know how it
goes. It may be that he will charge for this service ....
