I just discovered that there is a brief autobiographical essay by Arthur Leonard
(inventor of the Yolo and Solane off-axis telescopes), and a rememberance
by another amateur astronomer published in the November 2001 news letter of
the Sacramento Vally Astonomical Society. It is available as a .pdf file
at http://www.skywatchers.org/newsletter/nov-01.pdf The rememberance
begins on the
first page. The essay begins on page three.
The rememberance has some technical inaccuracy: the warping harness of the
Yolo corrects astigmatism, not spherical abberation; The Yolo mirrors are
spherical in smaller sizes, but the primary needs some aspheric correction
in larger sizes.
