I have been on vacation, so this response is rather tardy by a few weeks....

What do you think of just polishing two pieces of glass against each other
and then fusing them with water? Many of us have already had experience
with how hard it is to remove a glass grinding tool from the mirror when
they are left sitting too long without grinding. Has anyone observed how
extremely tight two pieces of well-matched glass bind with a thin layer of
water?

If one is critical of this method, what would be the best test to
convincingly demonstrate that this is superior to a single thin sheet?
