First off this is coming from a social democrat (NDP) me.
The biggest screw ups in Canadian Politics in the last 35 years or so was
the defeat of the Joe Clark government, Joe was a good PM and an excellent
MP (was mine for years), highly respected and at the same token highly
feared, if you were a civil servant you had best serve the people and not
be restrictive.

Kim Campbell was a scapegoat plain and simple, I think she could have made
a hell of a difference in Canada, but the worst PM of all Brian Mulroney
made damned good and sure that would not happen, by decimating the
Conservatives.

Today Stephen Harper is a very dangerous man to have in Ottawa, all his
ideas are just that ideas and based upon theories that have not been proven
to be good.
