From: "Mel Bartels" To: Reply-To: "Mel Bartels" >>> I like the continuous/single piece spider wire from a simplicity standpoint, but do you have any safety/backup provisions...just in case...the single wire breaks? <<< It's rather new - so far the wire is quite strong. I do carry spare wire to wire up a new spider on the spot if I have to. I have a keeper piece of wood that I use to wire up the spider that keeps the diagonal hub in position during the wiring. Then I tighten the various wire attachment points until it is roughly aligned. >>> Based on the pictures provided, this looks like a hand-pushed scope. When do you plan to motorize it? Steppers? Servo? Encoders? Molded large worm gears? Rollers? Industrial Velcro gears? <<< I am doing the motorization now - it's a second flex rocker that will contain both motors. I am doing a stepper and a servo version. So far I am heading down the friction wheel approach. The gear ratios for the homemade drive gears are not favorable in this size of scope.
