OV> Donovan Bailey made Michael Johnson eat dust this afternoon, but I
OV> got the feeling that the American media will still say, Johnson is
OV> still the fastest in the world and will demand a rematch on their
OV> turf. I'll say the heck with them.
A couple of weeks after the big race, I have to be honest: I'm impressed
with how the American media handled the loss by Johnson.. amazingly, they
didn't even jump on Bailey for his arrogant comments after the race! The
Canadian media did, though, and I agree with them. Whether Johnson pulled
up or not is a question only he knows the answer to for sure, but there was
no reason for Bailey to voice his personal opinion.
And I've heard two different americans call Bailey the fastest man in the
world now.. which is about two more than I was expecting :)
