Vega is a little too bright for star testing, I think? I wonder if I ever saw
it nice & round in any telescope, my impression is more a spiky thing.
And it gives ghost reflections in eyepieces... If your scope has already a 
mount, Polaris seems a better choice... but of course it does not pass at
the zenith for most ATM 8-))
