Ramona as in Ramona Calif?
I'm doing the mirrormaking class at the new Univ. in San Marcos and you
might want to drop by.
The problem with the scratch really is that any dust can provide the piece
of grit that actually scratched the mirror. Going back to the last grit
will definetly cure the problem. That, of course means that all of the
pitch needs to come off of the tool and so forth. You can always proceed
and hope that the scratch does get removed while polishing and this often
happens. The bad thing is that you may end up with a groove where the
scratch used to be as the edges of it got worn away by the lap and may not
fully go away for a rather long time.
