That's why I RTV glue my mirrors.  No clips to bang against.  No rattling
mirror during transport or storage.

See my last post about compliant hinges and RTV silicone.  It may be worth
considering for your mirror cell.  No fancy fabrication techniques
required.  Low cost and simple.
