The internet isn't just a fancy service with some local software.
Its a real network that uses real network software. Its not a
BBS or something, its a network - every bit as powerful as Novell.
Now, what you want is to be able to access a Network, without
a network capable operating system. I want REAL Internet access.
I want to be able to set up one machine on my desk and print to
a machine in CA if I have access, get files from anywhere, telnet
to other systems, etc. Don't forget the NET in Internet.

Uhh .. you don't have o set aside a special partition. I would
certainly recommend it, especiallyif you plan on getting files
via FTP - keeping the original filenames is important to me.
Speed is also important. The Minix filesystem is not requirement
of MiNT-NET, but why would you want to use the FAT filesystem?
And acess to the Internet is muh better when you can Multitask/thread
Especially when you are using a slow connection. MiNT allows MiNT-NET
to work. MiNT-NET is TCP/IP networking - the protocol used by the
Internet.
As for memory requirements - get more Memory. Don't expect to view
Web pages in 1MB. The world moves on - don't expect to be able to
do all the stuff everyone else does in 1/8 the memory. Netscape
requires 8MB of RAM. As for a mono monitor, I don't think STiK
requires 400 line resolutions, and I know MiNT-NET doesn't. STiK
might require 400 lines, but that IS an acceptable minimum resolution.
In fact, Atari recommends that programmers use a minimum config of
640x400 as a base system. As for the sloppy MiNT port of X - I
suppose i works for those that want it (not me).
