 JB> Hi all

JB> Could someone help me please.

JB> I don't seem to be able to turn off the modem speaker using M0 in the
JB> init string. The instruction booklet says L0 makes the sound low and
JB> M0 is speaker always off - they don't seem to work!!
JB> I have put them at the start of the init string immediately after AT
JB> and at the end of the string but to no avail. I have tried putting
JB> them both in and still noisy. My modem is too close to the baby and I
JB> can't keep wrapping it in a towel to muffle the noise.
JB> I am using Telix for win and the modem is a smartmodem 288.

JB> Thank you all in advance for your help

Hi There. Ahh I see your problem. When your connected it makes sound
continuosly. hmmmm..... You dont want to turn the speaker off because you
want to hear whats going on when it dials but after dialing it should be
quite. Try using the low volume
setting. In telix i think you will find an option- speaker. I think you
can turn it on always, when dialing only and off always. Try these. Im
not really sure cause I use telix for dos which is much better. You get
higher transfer speeds because dos
is not a multi tasking environ. Try downloading it its a 94 or 95 version
which is the latest and it rules :) Cya.
