I haven't done any machine work so I really don't know. I will note that
the machine can't go too fast or you will end up with zones where the glass
is expanding and cooling with the friction of polishing at a high rate of
speed - heat from the polish heats the glass and that makes it stand proud
and it gets shaved down and then, since the heat from polishing isn't as
great, it cools back down, retreating and so forth. Working in the low 50s
F for temp is going to be making the pitch really hard and you may want to
have something softer for that kind of temp. Pitch is very sensitive to
temp. Warm a piece up in warm water and you will find that it quickly gets
to the condition that it will flow with a temp barely over body temp.
