LE>> You must have a very new M34F. The original M34Fs were built on the LE>> M4/M7/M9/M11 board which doesn't have space for the LE>> 256K x 8 EEPROMs. Tell me, is your modem's CPU in LD> There are two memory chips with stickers on them saying 'NetComm LD> (C)1995,96', two others marked with Toshiba next to them. The Toshiba chips are probably the RAM. I'm trying to think of some of the other layout differences between the boards.. they do look very different if you have them side-by-side, and I could tell you instantly if I looked at it... Ah. There is an empty 68-pin [PLCC] space on the old M34F board (for a 24/96 datapump for the old M4F which was made on the same board). The 288 also has an empty space, but it is for a QFP chip, not PLCC - so has much denser pin spacing. LD> On the top of the PCB is 0003 9528 94V-0 and at the bottom is PCB7082 REV D LD> It certainly doesn't look new. Middle of 1995 sounds reasonably new to me. Certainly not a first-generation M34F. LD> The datapump is soldered in, pins on all 4 sides, same with the CPU. Yes, but is the CPU in an MQUAD (metal/ceramic) or PQFP (plastic) case ? -- Lewin A.R.W.
